Where MSP fits
MSP can support the physical excavation, material handling, access, rough grading, and backfill stages assigned to the excavation contractor. We work from the approved layout, elevations, specifications, and direction provided for the project.
The septic design, permit, inspection, and final approval remain with the qualified professionals and regulatory authority responsible for those steps. Our job is to execute the excavation scope carefully and communicate when soil, groundwater, rock, access, or existing services differ from the information provided.
- Excavate for tanks, trenches, beds, and related site work as directed
- Maintain clean access and organized spoil/material handling
- Support placement and backfill sequencing under the project plan
- Complete rough grading and surface restoration within the agreed scope
Why site conditions matter
Ontario’s official septic guidance explains that system size and placement depend on flow, available space, topography, soil, depth to bedrock, and other site conditions. That is why a field change should be communicated before the crew improvises around it.
A clean excavation is not a substitute for a septic design. It is the physical execution of an approved plan, with the excavation team watching for conditions that may affect the plan.
Customer checklist
Before excavation begins, confirm that the project team has the following information available:
- Approved septic layout, elevations, and access plan
- Permit and inspection contact information
- Utility locate status and private-locate plan
- Specified stone, fill, pipe, tank, or other materials
- A clear process for documenting unexpected soil, rock, water, or access conditions
